Draft Narrative

Narrative

As a group we discussed some key features that we would like to include in our Film Trailer some of these were;

·         Spooky Location (Abandoned/ Derelict Sites)

·         Researching then go and find out.

·         Cliff Hanger ending.

·         Spooky Person.

Using these key features we thought of a rough storyline that we could then develop into more depth. This is the storyline;

To start there are two girls researching derelict locations on the internet, whilst searching the internet they find a website talking about a young girl (aged around 16, 17, and 18) who had gone missing while on holiday at the Lower Woodside Holiday Park and had never been found.

The girls who were researching decided to visit Lower Woodside Holiday Park for a thrill.  They arrive at the location after a car journey and look around.

After looking for a while they see a girl in a long white dress, one of the girls realise that the story they were researching was true, they go and try to talk to her but she disappears She then chases them and they run away and drop the camera. The Spooky Girl then kneels on the ground and looks into the camera.

What is a Film Trailer?

What is a Film Trailer?
In videos and film technology a series of short edited clips of selected scenes, which is put together to make a film trailer.Trailers are often used as a way to advertise a film. It’s also used to attract thier target audience to go and watch their film.Trailers give the audience an insight about the movie, this is usually called a teaser trailer.
Trailers are also used to inform the audiences that there is a new movie soon to come out to cinemas; the production company will make sure that their trailer is eye catching so that the audience see the film trailer and then want to go and see the film. A film trailer usually gives the audience an idea what the film is about whilst keeping the narrative a secret, this is done by using only clips from scenes from the film, and not using them in a linear form. This way the film trailer bounces from one clip to another which keeps the audience guessing, and exited about the film.

Our Questionnaire Results

After handing out our Questionnaire we collated all the information together and put our results into Pie Charts, we did this so that it was easier to see and understand our results.
Here is our Pie Chart:

Our Film Questionnaire

Nusrat, Chloe and I have created a questionnaire which includes 9 questions, we are going to hand this questionnaire out to a range of people from the age of 15+ as that is our chosen age group for our film. We have tried to structure our questions so that we can get the best possible answers to help us in our research.

Initial Mind Mapping

To start off the reseach and planning process, after discussing different genre, audience and location ideas Chloe, Nusrat and I have made a mind map to help ourselves see the options that we have for our film trailer. This is our mind map

Brief

My Classmates and I have decided to work together in a 3 whilst working around the brief we have been given, this brief is;
'A promotion package for a new film to include a trailer together with two of the three options
  • A website home page for the film
  • A film magazine front cover
  • A poster for the film '
After looking at this brief we decided to create a film magazine front cover and a poster for the film.

We chose this brief because film trailers have some factors that the other briefs didn't have, as well as that last year two of our group did magazines for our coursework therefore we can take our skills from last year and put them into our work for this year.

Personally I wanted to do a Film Trailer because it's a new form of Media and it's an interesting part of film production as it is the way the production companies sell thier film before it's even released.
